Motivation Monday: Try a Little Gratefulness

gratitude heart

Hello, my bubbly loving darlings. I’m writing this post immediately after the Kehinde Wiley brunch I told you about that I co-hosted with Afro Bohemian Snob {full recap coming soon} and I am EX. HAUS. TED. My head is pounding; my feet ache; my eyes are burning; my brain is worn out; I’m sleepy; and on top of it all I have to get up super early in the morning in order to travel, which is only going to wear me out even more.

But you know what? In spite of all that, I am also truly, sincerely, thoroughly, completely grateful. Here’s why:

I am grateful for

I am grateful that soooo many people came out to support our maiden event co-hosting endeavor.

I am grateful for an event that went off as smooth as spreadable butter.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to see works of art that truly moved my spirit and impacted my soul.

I am grateful for friends who traveled from afar just to be there.

I am grateful for meeting new people.

I am grateful for post-event fellowship with family and friends that created wonderful new memories.

And, most of all, I am grateful for a spouse who was patient, kind, helpful, encouraging–did I mention patient?–who never complained one bit about the long day.

Today was another in a string of reminders that when I focus my energy and thoughts on what I have to be grateful for instead of focusing on things to complain about that it’s easier to see the beauty and blessings that are right in front of my eyes. Even if those eyes are tired; heavy, or red from tears.

Not Easy Being Grateful

So here is your Motivation Monday challenge: In spite of the amount of difficulties you are facing, I  encourage you to start this week off with an intentional perspective of gratefulness, and see how it changes your your outlook. You just may find that it gives you the boost you need to keep going.

And guess what? When you find what y0u need in order to keep going it ends up giving you that much more to be grateful about.
