A Bubbleista Champagne Pop-Up: “Champagne & Crustaceans”

May 24, 2019 by The Bubbleista

Crustaceans Pop Up Group shot

Okay, raise your hand if you have ever been intimidated by wine…? Yep, I’m sure almost all of you reading this have been! I mean, at one point or another most of us have found ourselves staring at a wine list; at a dinner party or event with several courses paired with several different wines; or wandering aimlessly about at a wine store try to figure exactly what to drink.

This challenge can be particularly true when it comes to champagne–the fancy labels and all those French terms that are very specific to champagne alone can strike terroir (yep, that’s a bad wine nerd joke, ha ha) terror into the hearts of any novice, enthusiasts, or even expert wine lover.

Well fear no more because The Bubbleista is here to demystify champagne; expose you to new and interesting bubbly options; and make champagne (and wine in general) even more fun, approachable, and exciting.

POPPIN’ BOTTLES

No only do I try to make bubbly more approachable here on the blog, but I’ve also started doing that in person as well at my live pop-up tasting events! I started hosting pop-up tasting in 2018 and the enthusiasm for them have only grown since then. None of my pop-up experiences are ever the same: they all have a different theme; different wines and food; a different {sometimes even a surprise} location; and each have different, fun activities.

My most recent pop-up was just hosted this past April in Houston and it was a sold-out event! Soooo, are you wondering yet what one of my luxe, fab, unstuffy champagne Bubbleista Champagne Pop-Ups might be like?

Well wonder no more! Check out my behind the scenes video I had made of my most recent fun, exclusive “melanin magic-filled” champagne pop-up tasting experience entitled “Champagne & Crustaceans,” and after you’re done watching read on below to get see more photos and get some of the exclusive details on what was served!

EVENT DETAILS

There were 26 lucky event attendees were hosted in a penthouse apartment on the 25th floor of a building with 270-degree gorgeously sweeping views of the city, including views of downtown Houston, park green space, and the city’s White Oak bayou!

Attendees were guided through a fun and educational progressively curated tasting of 5 champagnes paired with chef-driven bites by Chef Dawn Sloan of Bleu Catering Houston.

We talked about how to listen to and train your individual palate; how to properly open a bottle of champagne {some minds were blown, lol}; and how to learn what flavor profiles please your palate the most.

We also had a dope deejay who absolutely and innately played to the pleasure of the crowd which kept the vibe upbeat yet mellow.

Saturday is {yet another} “wine holiday,” so I thought what better reason to provide you with some of my special brand of #EffervescentEducation than giving you the lowdown on the sparkling wine you should be drinking right now: Lambrusco!
