Summer is officially here
I just love the bounty of fruit and vegetables that become ripe and plentiful during the summer: watermelon; tomatoes; nectarines;
Though fig like Mission grow in the winter.
My next door neighbor has a tree brimming with organic, ripe, plump, tender, juicy figs–that they never pick! It’s my duty to take advantage of these glorious fruits.
Soooo, what’s a Bubbleista to do with this crop of goodness?
I thought about infusing liquor of course. I though about making … I even thought about just slicing them up while they were fresh and adding them to a salad with some truffle goat cheese; candied pecans; sliced smoked duck. End the ned I decided to go simple.
Make fig simple syrup
I wanted something that I could enjoy over and over.
Use it for green tea; iced tea; make a bourbon cocktail; a sweet pic me up for bubbly; drizzle it over vanilla ice cream
