Not much more quintessentially says “summer” like a glass of cold, sweet-tart, cooling, refreshing lemonade. You can go to a picnic, barbecue, or social gathering anywhere this time of year and you’re sure to see a pitcher beckoning you to sip. We keep lemonade in our fridge year-round in my household. In fact, if you were to look in my refrigerator right now you’d actually see two types of lemonade, both regular and strawberry.
What can I say? I like options!
I love lemonade but bubbly lovers cannot live on just lemonade alone! Case in point: I was about to pour myself a glass recently when I was suddenly hit by an unyielding desire to gussy-up that lemonade into adult-sipping form. I didn’t want my normal French 75–I needed something lighter and with less alcohol content that could sustain me while basking under the summer sun.
That meant it was time for The Bubbleista to do some cocktail brainstorming and concocting, so I started perusing my liquor cabinet for inspiration. Then, BAM! The Limoncello immediately jumped out at me.

Before we go any further, you may be asking “What’s limoncello?” You always ask the most awesome questions!

Now done with the educational component of this post, we return to our regularly scheduled cocktail recipe programming
Once I saw the limoncello the gears started instantly turning: I decided to create my own lemony cocktail recipe with an Italian twist that I could envision sipping while watching a Tuscan sunset. The result was pure deliciousness perfect for beating the summer heat.
Thusly, the Sole di Limone was born. It’s lemony and fizzy with a kick, plus the perfect touch of sweetness. Trust, you’ll be sipping these citrusy, refreshing, bubbly flavor bombs all summer long.
Bubbly loving ladies and gents, without further ado may I present the “Sole di Limone.” Read on for the recipe!
